Terrific Tabby Cats

There are 4 patterns of Tabby cats:
  1. The Classic (or marbled) pattern has wide-banded whorls instead of stripes.
  2. The Mackerel pattern has striped rings around the tail and legs, a collar of stripes on the from of the chest, and bands of solid or broken stripes running down the sides of their bodies.  This pattern is the most common.
  3. The Spotted pattern has no lines, but what are lines in other tabbies are broken up into a number of spots.
  4. The Agouti (or ticked) pattern has hair with distinct bands of color on them which breaks up the tabby patterning into a salt-and-pepper appearance.  Residual ghost striping or barring can often be seen on the face, belly, and lower legs, and sometimes, at the tail tip.
The most distinguishing feature on a tabby cat is the "M" on their foreheads.  Even the big jungle cats, like tigers, cheetahs, and ocelots have the "M".

Orange tabbies are far more likely to be male, with an average ratio of 80 males to 20 females.

CCS has several tabby cats available for adoption.  Here are just a few of the tabbies that have been rescued by CCS and are waiting for their forever homes.
