Featured Cat - Buffy
I'm Buffy, one of the many tabby cats here at the shelter. I love to be close to people and get some much deserved attention. When you hold or pet me I will purr and give you face rubs. There is nothing I like better then to sit close to you or on your lap and have you lavish me with love. Come see me today between 10:00 and 4:00 at our open house.

Terrific Tabby Cats
There are 4 patterns of Tabby cats:
Orange tabbies are far more likely to be male, with an average ratio of 80 males to 20 females.

- The Classic (or marbled) pattern has wide-banded whorls instead of stripes.
- The Mackerel pattern has striped rings around the tail and legs, a collar of stripes on the from of the chest, and bands of solid or broken stripes running down the sides of their bodies. This pattern is the most common.
- The Spotted pattern has no lines, but what are lines in other tabbies are broken up into a number of spots.
- The Agouti (or ticked) pattern has hair with distinct bands of color on them which breaks up the tabby patterning into a salt-and-pepper appearance. Residual ghost striping or barring can often be seen on the face, belly, and lower legs, and sometimes, at the tail tip.

Featured Director - Amber
The fantastic Amber is one of the directors at CCS. She is involved with the medical care of the cats and assists
with tours and cleaning tasks. Amber and
her boyfriend, Cameron, live with their 4 cats and 7 year old iguana. There was a need for a shelter in the FM
area and she is proud to be a co-founder of CCS back in 2011. Amber is a licensed veterinary technician in
the state of North Dakota which is a huge plus for the shelter as she is very knowledgeable
about the cats and their needs. She started
out working for PAAWS when she was 18 and came with CCS when they separated
from the PAAWS organization. She currently works for Big Top Bingo and
enjoys “hanging out at the shelter”. Her
favorite moments are snuggling with her “kids” on the couch.

Flood Preparation Tips
With the weather getting warmer this means the Red River will be on the rise. Here are a few tips on keeping your pets safe if you need to leave your home.
*Have a plan. Start talking about what you will do with your pets should you need to evacuate and they are unable to go with you. A friend or family member may be in a safe area and able to care for your pet in your absence. A shelter may be another choice for pet owners.
Waldo and Tiki |
Benji |
*Identification. Have a current photo of your pet. Put a collar on your pet to ensure that their identification is known. Have a leash handy.
Brooke |
*Carrier. Have a sturdy carrier for your pet to travel in. It is best for pets to be in a carrier while in a vehicle. The carrier should be large enough for the animal to stand and turn around.
Bishop and Cyrus |
*Calm travel. There are sprays and other helpful items that can be used to help your pet stay calm if they are not used to traveling or are in a new home situation. Check local pet stores for available products.

*When you arrive. When you arrive at a new place set up your supplies to help the pet stay comfortable and have familiar items around them. This may be a stressful time for your pet as well as for yourself. Be aware of any other animals or children that may be at the new house. It might be best if your pet stayed in one room with their familiar items rather than having the whole house to learn about. Look up the name and phone number of a vetrinarian in the area where you will be staying in case medical care is needed in your temporary home. Be sure to give your pet some love and attention often in the new home.

Featured Cat - Snowflake
I'm the beautiful Snowflake. I love laying close to people and letting them rub my belly. I'm a good player and certainly enjoy the company of people. I will purr and purr if you give me a little attention. My coat is thick and soft and just right for combing. Come on over to the shelter on Saturday and get to know me.

Fundraising Event - "Rock to the Rescue"
Just sending out a HUGE Thank You to Tommy Shaw and his beautiful daughter Hannah, for inviting us to be a part of their event on Thursday April 18th. The concert will be at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, ND. Rock to the Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3 started by STYX and does wonderful work. They are raffling off an autographed guitar and donating 25% of the proceeds of the raffle to CATS Cradlee Shelter. We are thrilled to partner with Tommy, Hannah, and the rest of the band in raising awareness to animal rescue on this very special night.
"All this time our main goal has been to engage people and lift their spirits through our music, but now we realize that we can also come together and engage them in doing good for their communities and for the world. It’s the same kind of inertia that happens with music; it all starts with an idea, and that idea grows into something that has the power to inspire change." - Tommy Shaw on Rock to the Rescue
