Black Cat Awareness Month @ CCS

During the month of May, CCS would like to bring awareness to the plight of black cats.  We will share some facts and myths about black cats as well as pictures of black cats that are available for adoption.

Some cultures view black cats as good luck, including in the U.K.
  • Unfortunately, many in the U.S. consider them the opposite, and will take measures to avoid crossing the path of a black kitty.  Sadly, this unfounded fear means black cats relinquished to animal shelters have a much harder time finding forever homes.

CCS has several black cats who are waiting for their forever homes.  Here are a few…

Sam - rescued October 2013
Sam is a polydactyl cat, meaning he as extra toes on his feet.  Sam does not like other cats and because of that can become testy with his feline friends.  Sam would prefer to have a home where he can be king.  He has lots of energy and needs an energetic play session each day.

Mamma - rescued June 2013
Mamma just woke from a nap when this picture was taken; she has stunning yellow-gold eyes.  Mamma is always ready to play; her favorite toys being anything that she can chase and capture.  She also loves a cozy bed in the window where she can soak up the sun.

Morrie - rescued February 2014
Morrie is a character.  He loves belly rubs and will stretch out on his back so that you rub the entire belly. He is usually one of the first cats in his room to greet visitors.  He is not demanding of attention and is happy just to sit with you.  When it is time for a nap, Morrie loves a good sunbeam.

King - rescued March 2014
King is a large cat, but not overweight.  When he gets up and stretches he looks like a grand panther.  He tolerates the cats in his room but prefers people. He is very sweet and would love to have a tall cat-stand in his forever home as he likes to be up high and survey his surroundings.

Tessie - rescued November 2013
Tessie is a sweet little girl.  She loves to cuddle and be held.  She can be quite content in your lap as well.  She is not a demanding cat but appreciates any love you have to give.  Tessie might enjoy a kitty friend as she may get lonely as an only cat.
